Comedy Slam! Comedy Contest
I produce & host the Comedy Slam! Comedy Contest - a biannual contest that draws comedians from across Michigan into Mt. Pleasant's historic Broadway Theater. I started this as a fundraiser event to help get more money for the theater and to fill its seats by providing affordable entertainment to the area. The President of the Board at the Broadway gave me full creative control to produce this event. It has helped the Broadway Theater become more bold in their development into an incredible space for our community.
Comedy Slam! Logo
It's always nice to be able to create a logo, but doing it for myself was even better. This gave me the opportunity to create a logo that I can slap on any of my marketing and promotional materials. I'm hoping to start making merch with this logo as well.
Comedy Slam! Season 1
I created everything myself for the Comedy Slam! series. This was Season 1 that ran February-June. As the Host & Producer, I had a lot of work that I did on a volunteer basis for the theater.
I had 150 audience members on average with a $1500 average in revenue generation for the theater.
Comedy Slam! Season 2
Season 1 was so good that I was invited back to do Season 2 - this time with a stipend. This is still ongoing. We have only had 2/4 shows, with the next on January 30th. The final one will be the Comedy GRAND Slam! where the top 3 from each contest will compete for the best of the best.
This time around, I also made sure to record the shows and put them on YouTube, in partnership with our local MacTV Network. I also brought the Tiny Homes Project, ran by Amanda Brake, to share their mission on stage.
